Getting from Byford to Perth Airport

Travelling from Byford to Perth Airport takes about 35 minutes. You’ll take three highways north—the South Western Highway, Albany Highway, and Tonkin Highway, before reaching the airport to the city’s east. This trip takes about 45 minutes in rush hour.

If you want to catch public transport, you’ll need to get a combination of trains and buses, with the journey taking about two hours to complete.

Perth Airport terminals

Perth Airport is an enormous international airport, and Australia’s sixth busiest. It has four terminals in total, with Terminal 1 being it’s main facility. You can catch both domestic and international flights from this terminal, for Qantas, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia, and Malaysia Airlines.

Terminal 1 has four levels:

  • The ground floor, where you can find arrivals and departures
  • Level 1, which has an information counter and the immigration desk
  • Level 2, where you’ll find the airport’s airline lounges, including Qantas, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Emirates
  • Level 3, where you’ll find the bathrooms.

Terminal 2 offers domestic flights only, with airlines Virgin, Alliance, and REX. Terminals 3 and 4 offer flights from Qantas and Jetstar, which fly to both international and domestic regions.

Byford

Byford is a residential suburb located about 45 kilometres southeast of Perth’s CBD. It’s home to the Cohunu Koala Park, a 14-hectare park of natural Australian Bushland with over 30 talking parrots, kangaroos, emus, deer, and of course, koalas. You can hand feed lots of these animals, or be a true tourist and cuddle an adorable koala.

If the wildlife park doesn’t take your fancy, you can check out The Glades Markets—local flea markets with over 80 stalls, offering fresh fruit and veg, james, cakes, books, artwork, and a whole lot more.
