Gold Coast Airport is 50 kilometres southeast of Coomera. It takes around 45 minutes to drive between the two during quiet periods, and up to 55 minutes in rush hour. Getting from Coomera to Gold Coast Airport

The trip from Gold Coast Airport to Coomera can take up to 55 minutes during rush hour, and 45 minutes off-peak. If you’d like to take public transport, you’ll need to catch a combination of buses and trains (3 or more), which can take anywhere between an hour and a quarter to two hours, depending on your luck with the transfers.

Gold Coast Airport terminals

Gold Coast Airport has a single small terminal that provides both domestic and international flights. Qantas, Jetstar, Air New Zealand, Virgin Australia, AirAsia X and Scoot all operate out of the airline, so there’s plenty of choice.

Gold Coast Airport parking and pick-up

There’s over 2000 parking spaces at Gold Coast Airport, and a number of parking options to choose from:

  • Premium Covered Parking: this is the closest park to the terminal—just a 30-second walk. It’s ideal for short hourly stays.
  • Short Term Terminal Parking: this is the cheaper short-term option, with a slightly longer walk to the terminals.
  • Long Term Terminal Parking: this car park is best for longer stays or a day or more, and is just a two-minute walk to the terminal. You can also take advantage of discounted prices if you book in advance.

Gold Coast Airport facilities

Gold Coast Airport is at the southern tip of Queensland. While technically a Queensland Airport, part of its runway crosses into New South Wales, which means you’re landing in two different states after you touch down.

Gold Coast Airport is small, but still packs a punch with its facilities. There’s plenty of dining and drinking options, including the Blackstone Bar & Cafe, Coffee & Co, and Hungry Jacks, as well as a Sunglass Hut, Tech2Go store, and currency exchange services.

If you’ll be around for a while, you can get some rest at one a nearby hotel, including Rydges, La Costa Motel, and the Gold Coast Airport Motel, all of which are less than a kilometre away.

Coomera

Coomera is a northern suburb of the City of Gold Coast, with a population of around 13,000. It’s roughly 27 kilometres northwest of Surfers Paradise.

Coomera is a residential suburb first and foremost, but is also home to the legendary Dreamworld, which straddles it’s western edge. This theme park has rides aplenty, including the highest freefall ride in the Southern Hemisphere (the Giant Drop), the 85km/h classic The Gold Coaster, and if you’d have enough of breakneck speeds, you can feast your eyes on gorgeous tigers, koalas, and chonky wombats.
